This page sets out the journal's complete position on copyright, licensing, open access, author rights, and permissions.
1. Copyright
Authors retain full copyright in their published work. IJSRM does not require the transfer or assignment of copyright at any stage, and publication is not conditional on any such transfer. There is no copyright transfer form.
On acceptance, authors grant IJSRM a non-exclusive right of first publication. This allows the journal to publish, host, distribute, archive, and deposit the article with Crossref and indexing services. Because the right is non-exclusive, authors remain free to use, reproduce, and license their own work elsewhere without seeking the journal's permission.
Copyright in each article rests with its authors. Copyright in the journal's own material — the site design, editorial content, and the collective arrangement of each issue — rests with IJSRM and Valley International.
2. License
All articles published in IJSRM are released under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).
Under this license, anyone is free to:
- Share — copy and redistribute the article in any medium or format;
- Adapt — remix, transform, and build upon the material;
for any purpose, including commercial use, provided that appropriate credit is given to the original authors and to IJSRM as the source, a link to the license is included, and any changes made are indicated. No additional legal or technological restrictions may be imposed that prevent others from doing anything the license permits.

This license is applied uniformly across the journal. The license statement appears on the landing page of every published article, in the article PDF, and in the machine-readable metadata. No IJSRM article is published under a more restrictive license, and no non-commercial or no-derivatives condition applies to any published content.
3. Open Access
IJSRM is a fully open access journal. Every article is free to read, download, and reuse from the moment of publication, permanently and without any embargo period. No subscription, registration, or payment of any kind is required of readers or their institutions.
The journal charges an Article Processing Charge (APC), payable only after a manuscript has been accepted following peer review, to cover editorial management, production, DOI registration, hosting, indexing, and long-term preservation. There are no submission fees, no review fees, no page or colour charges, and no post-publication charges. The current amount and the journal's waiver policy are published openly on the Publication Fee page. Payment of the APC has no bearing whatsoever on editorial decisions.
4. Author Rights After Publication
Because authors retain copyright and articles carry a CC BY 4.0 license, authors may, without applying for permission:
- deposit the submitted, accepted, and published versions in any institutional or subject repository, immediately and with no embargo;
- post the article on personal, departmental, or preprint sites and scholarly networks;
- reuse the whole or any part of the article in a thesis, book, review, lecture, or subsequent publication;
- distribute copies for teaching and internal institutional use;
- supply the article to funders in satisfaction of any open access mandate.
Authors are asked to cite the published version and include its DOI whenever the work is reused or redeposited.
5. Third-Party Material and Permissions
Where a manuscript reproduces figures, tables, photographs, instruments, extended quotations, or other material owned by someone else, it is the authors' responsibility to obtain written permission from the rights holder before submission — on terms compatible with CC BY 4.0 wherever possible — and to acknowledge the source in the caption or text.
If permission cannot be obtained on CC BY terms, the authors must inform the editorial office before publication so that the material can be clearly identified and its own licensing terms stated in the caption. Material for which adequate permission cannot be evidenced will be removed prior to publication.
Where authors reuse their own previously published material, the same requirement applies: if copyright was transferred to an earlier publisher, that publisher's permission must be secured, and the earlier work must be cited.
6. Reuse by Third Parties
No permission request to IJSRM is necessary in order to reuse a published article, since CC BY 4.0 already grants that right. Attribution should identify the authors, the article title, the journal name, the year, and the DOI.
Requests concerning material the journal itself owns — the site design, logo, or the arrangement of an issue — should be sent to editor@ijsrm.net.
7. Author Warranties
By submitting a manuscript, the corresponding author warrants on behalf of all authors that:
- the work is original and was written by the named authors;
- it has not been published previously and is not under consideration elsewhere;
- it does not infringe the copyright, trademark, privacy, or other rights of any person or organisation;
- all necessary permissions for third-party material have been obtained;
- the content is not defamatory or otherwise unlawful;
- all authors have seen and approved the submission.
8. Breach of Rights
Where a published article is found to contain plagiarised material, to infringe copyright, or to breach the warranties above, the journal acts in accordance with COPE guidelines and its Publication Ethics policy. Depending on the nature of the breach, the outcome may be a correction, an expression of concern, or a retraction.
A retracted article is not deleted from the site. It remains available, marked clearly as retracted on every page, with a linked notice explaining the reason. Removal is reserved for the rare case where content is defamatory, unlawful, or presents a serious risk; even then the metadata and a notice remain in place.
9. Persistent Identification and Preservation
Every article is assigned a Crossref DOI, ensuring that the version of record remains permanently identifiable and citable. Content is preserved for the long term in accordance with the journal's Digital Archiving Policy.
10. Dissemination
IJSRM encourages authors to disseminate their work as widely as possible — through repositories, conferences, professional networks, and public engagement — so that the research reaches the communities and stakeholders who can act on it. Open access and Creative Commons licensing exist precisely to make that possible without permission barriers.
