Downloads
Vietnam’s shrimp exporting industry plays a pivotal role in the structure of the national fisheries economy, generating billions of USD in annual export value. The year 2024 marked a significant milestone as Vietnam’s shrimp exports continued to achieve steady growth in key markets such as the United States, the European Union, and China. Alongside major provinces like Ca Mau, Soc Trang, and Bac Lieu, Kien Giang has made substantial contributions to the prosperity of the seafood industry. Shrimp farmed and processed in Kien Giang are primarily exported to Asian and European markets, contributing considerably to the province’s income and shaping its local economic development. This study provides an overview of the current state of shrimp product exports in Kien Giang, assesses them based on sustainable development criteria, and proposes strategic solutions to promote the export of local shrimp products toward sustainable development in the coming years.
